Performs clinical assessment, diagnostic sonography examinations, invasive ultrasound procedures, doppler vascular examinations, deep abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound as required. Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the organ to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications following exam specifications. Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of the body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced. Evaluates technical quality of films to obtain representative images of pathogenic conditions; processes film in accordance with standard procedures or techniques. Discusses test results with supervisor or attending physician when needed. Reviews and processes images for storage by ensuring the proper views were obtained according to department protocol. Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed. Instructs and prepares patients for imaging examinations. Practices consistent patient safety measures ensuring the right patient, right dose/rate and right procedure/site/side.
