About The Position

Michigan Institute of Urology is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to provide coverage at our Macomb Township location. This position will support our urology team and provide coverage for staffing needs, including vacations, call-offs, and other scheduled absences. The anticipated need is approximately 8–16 hours per week, depending on coverage needs. This is a PRN position and is not a traditional full-time position.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Ultrasound Technology or a related field
Demonstrated prior experience performing ultrasound examinations
Experience with urologic conditions and urologic pathologies
Strong clinical and patient-care skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a clinical team
Knowledge of database management.
Knowledge and ability to navigate EMR system.
Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare coding systems, and clinics functions.
Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements.
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and other third-party payer’s guidelines.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong technical, communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
Strong analytical, judgment, and decision-making skills.

Associate degree in Ultrasound Technology required.
Graduate of an Accredited Ultrasound Technician Program required.
Previous Ultrasound Technologist experience strongly preferred- six months to one year related experience preferred.
New grads will be considered.
BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

Registration with one of the two recognized medical diagnostic sonography organizations is preferred: The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
ACLS preferred.
Current R.D.M.S. Certification.

Responsibilities

Using sonographic equipment to record images of patients for diagnostic purposes.
Performing sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.
Recording test results, inspecting and maintaining equipment, and ordering supplies when needed.
Selecting and examining images, searching for differences between healthy and pathological areas and determining if the scope of the exam should be extended based on preliminary findings.
Presenting the sonograms and preliminary findings to Physicians.
Completing the appropriate documentation and maintaining patients’ medical records.
Assisting Physicians and healthcare teams during invasive procedures.
Maintaining and cleaning the sonographic equipment.
Performing medical procedures, such as administering oxygen, taking vital signs and giving emergency treatments.
Inserting patient information and personal data into the computer to maintain examination records.
Assessing the patient’s physical, psychological and educational needs in order to obtain appropriate history prior to each exam.
Explaining process to patient, instructing and assisting patient in to position for exam.
Monitoring images for quality and adjusting as needed.
Recording optimal anatomical images that are transferred to the PACS system, disc, strip printout or film to obtain a permanent record.
Providing relevant technical information about the patient and exam to facilitate in the interpretation of the study by the radiologist.
Performing other position related duties as assigned.
Adhering to high standards of ethical conduct and complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including Solaris Health Code of Conduct, maintaining patient confidentiality (HIPAA), reporting concerns, and completing Annual Compliance Training.
