About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist 1 is responsible for performing sonographic procedures by the application of ultrasound to produce images under a variety of conditions. This role requires producing quality sonograms, demonstrating good knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, identifying pathology, and providing physicians with accurate measurements. The technologist must understand the capabilities of the equipment, operate the dry laser printer, and prepare sonogram films for physician interpretation. Responsibilities also include obtaining outside previous or comparison films, obtaining complete patient histories, and maintaining a log of all patients. The position requires adaptability to flexible working hours and the use of computers and telephones. Compliance with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy, OSHA training, and adherence to the Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards are mandatory. Other job duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have one (1) corresponding specialty credential that is pertinent to the work area specified: A. For Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics and Gynecology) or B. For Vascular Technology (Vascular (RVT))
  • Must have active registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. (ARDMS).
  • CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines within 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain professional behavior.
  • Must be able to adjust to various personalities and situations.
  • Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.
  • Must possess manual dexterity to use keyboard and handle equipment and appliances.
  • Must be capable of pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, lifting and twisting.
  • Must be able with help to lift patient as needed.
  • Must be able to work with arms above head.
  • Must be able to wear lead apron for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time while using transducers for scanning.
  • Must be able to assist patient to and from the table.
