About The Position

The Ultrasound Technician (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) is responsible for operating the sonographic scanner to produce images of patients internal organs. This role involves explaining procedures to patients, performing detailed sonographic evaluations, evaluating image quality, assisting radiologists in interventional procedures, presenting findings to physicians, and maintaining equipment and the scanning room.

Requirements

• Knowledge of American College of Radiology (ACR) scanning protocols.

• Associates degree or equivalent.
• Must be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDM or ARRT).

Responsibilities

• Explaining the procedure to the patient and answering questions regarding the process.
• Operating the sonographic scanner to perform detailed sonographic evaluations of abdomen, pelvis and small parts; also perform vascular exams.
• Evaluating the images for quality, but also interpret what was captured in the image.
• Assisting Radiologist in interventional ultrasound procedures.
• Presenting images and preliminary findings to the physician for review.
• Maintaining the sonographic equipment in good operating order.
• Cleaning and maintaining the sonographic scanner room.
• Performing other tasks as assigned.
