About The Position

The Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound (US) examinations including OB/GYN as well as abdominal and vascular studies with a caring, professional attitude and has good customer service skills. Coordinates patient schedules and performs related clerical duties as needed. Is responsible to take on call duty and rotate schedule when needed. Prepares procedures for interpretation by obtaining correct patient histories and processing the images. Performs other related duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Imaging Services.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an approved program in Ultrasound Technology or licensed RT(R) who has received on the job training with five years of diagnostic experience
  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in at least two specialties and at least 1 year of Vascular experience (must be able to obtain RVT within 1 year of hire)
  • Current BLS Certification
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in an acute care setting.
  • Knowledge in Abdomen, Small parts, Breast and OB (1st, 2nd, 3rd trimester)/GYN, and Vascular imaging.
  • Able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an approved school for Ultrasonography.
  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Ultrasonography, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience working in acute care setting, active RDMS certification in at least two specialties and RVT certified.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates patient schedules and performs related clerical duties as needed.

  • Performs multiple types of examinations using ultrasound techniques to aid in the diagnosis of disease which include abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, small parts and vascular exams
  • Ability to understand and utilize the Digital Image Storage device for image acquisition retrieval and storage of exams.
  • Ability to maneuver ultrasound equipment throughout the facility.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary logs, statistics, records, and files.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and organized condition.
  • Must be available at any time during day or night to perform emergency scanning of patients.
  • Must be available to work on-call (24 hours) on a rotating basis.
