About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) is responsible for operating the sonographic scanner to produce images of patients internal organs. This role involves explaining procedures to patients, performing detailed sonographic evaluations of various body parts, evaluating image quality, assisting in interventional procedures, and maintaining equipment and the work environment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of American College of Radiology (ACR) scanning protocols.
  • Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics.
  • Skill in excellent customer service.
  • Skill in using sonographic scanner machine.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Associates degree or equivalent.
  • Must be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDM or ARRT).

Responsibilities

  • Explaining the procedure to the patient and answering questions regarding the process.
  • Operating the sonographic scanner to perform detailed sonographic evaluations of abdomen, pelvis and small parts; also perform vascular exams.
  • Evaluating the images for quality, but also interpret what was captured in the image.
  • Assisting Radiologist in interventional ultrasound procedures.
  • Presenting images and preliminary findings to the physician for review.
  • Maintaining the sonographic equipment in good operating order.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the sonographic scanner room.
  • Performing other tasks as assigned.
