About The Position

The Ultrasongrapher performs diagnostic sonography procedures. This role involves the independent operation of sonographic equipment, communicating diagnostic results, reviewing patient charts, and interviewing patients to explain procedures. The technician will also assist in scheduling patients, support physicians in examinations like biopsies, and contribute to the training of student sonographers. Accurate charging for examinations is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of Sonography
+1 year of hospital or clinic experience in ultrasound
BLS Certified
Must have or be able to obtain at least (1) registry within the first 12 months of hire into the role
Knowledge of GE equipment
Knowledge of PACS system
Must be able to follow guidelines set forth by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine regarding the use of ultrasound and its biological effects
Ability to work rotating work schedules as required to meet department needs

Responsibilities

Independent operation of sonographic equipment and communicating the results of diagnostic examinations using sonography
Review patient charts and results of previous diagnostic studies and record patient’s personal and medical history prior to performing examinations
Interview patient and explain procedure(s), any forms needed to be completed, any possible complications, and the amount of time needed; Answer patient questions
Assist in scheduling patients for ultrasound studies
Assist physicians in performance of other examinations such as biopsies, thoracenteses, etc.
Assist in the technical and didactic training of student sonographers
Correctly charge all examinations according to the proper CPT definition in a timely manner
All other duties assigned to Radiology Oncology and Imaging services
