About The Position

The Ultrasound Technician position is located at 80 29th Street Brooklyn, New York 11232, with a schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, from 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The role involves providing General Ultrasound, Vascular Ultrasound, Echocardiogram, and Electroencephalography (EEG) services. This includes taking, processing, and submitting films/studies for interpretation by board-certified radiologists, cardiologists, or neurologists, as appropriate. The technician is responsible for ensuring interpretations are typed and securely sent to the MDC Brooklyn Health Service Department by the next business day, and for telephoning abnormal results to the Clinical Director immediately upon receipt and interpretation. Documentation of patient encounters will primarily be done using an official consultation form (SF 513), with direct entries into medical records approved on a case-by-case basis. The technician must also be familiar with managing and supervising a hospital-based ultrasound services department in accordance with FDA, OSHA, and JCAHO standards.

Requirements

  • Proof of attendance to an accredited school resulting in an appropriate degree (maintained on file with provider).
  • Licensed as a Radiology Technician with Ultrasound specialty - ARRT (R.T. (S) or ARDMS).
  • Current certification that permits them to practice and to perform General Ultrasound, Vascular Ultrasound, Echocardiography, and Electroencephalography in the United States.
  • Familiarity with managing and supervising a hospital-based ultrasound services department regarding FDA, OSHA, and JCAHO standards.
  • Provide written documentation of certification (copy of all diplomas and/or certificates) that permits applicant to perform the services.
  • Maintain current certification that permits them to practice and to perform General Ultrasound, Vascular Ultrasound, Echocardiography, and Electroencephalography in the United States for the duration of the contract.

Responsibilities

  • Provide General Ultrasound/Vascular Ultrasound/Echocardiogram services, including taking, processing, and submitting interpretation of films.
  • Ensure interpretations for ultrasound/echocardiogram are conducted and performed by a board-certified radiologist and/or board-certified cardiologist.
  • Ensure interpretations are typed and faxed or sent securely via e-mail to the MDC Brooklyn Health Service Department the next business day.
  • Telephone abnormal results/interpretations to the Clinical Director upon receipt and interpretation of the films and/or studies.
  • Provide EEG services, including performing and conducting electroencephalography and submitting interpretation of electroencephalogram.
  • Ensure EEG interpretations are performed by a board-certified neurologist.
  • Ensure EEG interpretations are typed and faxed or sent securely via e-mail to the MDC Brooklyn Health Service Department the next business day.
  • Telephone abnormal EEG results/interpretations to the Clinical Director upon receipt and interpretation of the films and/or studies.
  • Document patient encounters using an official consultation form (SF 513), with direct entries into medical records approved on a case-by-case basis.
