About The Position

This is a Per Diem Ultrasound Tech position. The role involves providing comprehensive care to patients requiring ultrasound services, following departmental policies and radiologist protocols. The technologist will be responsible for producing quality diagnostic images, obtaining patient history, communicating with providers, and ensuring exam room cleanliness and adherence to infection control standards. The position also requires the ability to operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, and to comply with safety, OSHA, and HIPPA regulations. The technologist will also attend departmental meetings and perform other job duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience required; outpatient and/or hospital setting preferred.
  • ARDMS certification in OB/GYN or AB is required.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Graduated from an accredited Sonography program.
  • The ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is required.
  • Advanced computer skills including email, Microsoft applications and ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record System, RIS and PACS Systems.
  • Breast Experience required.
  • Per diem Technologists will typically be needed for 4 shifts within a 6-week scheduling grid.
  • 2 or more of those shifts will occur during the weekend.
  • Must work at least one Holiday per year.
  • Locations are subject to change.
  • Once shifts are accepted and assigned, it becomes the responsibility of technologist to get coverage, if adequate notice is not given.
  • All shift trades or drop requests are subject to manager approval.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to travel to satellite locations as needed
  • Location preference will be taken into consideration; however, technologists will be scheduled according to staffing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive care to patients requiring ultrasound services in an organized and systematic manner according to departmental policy and standards.
  • Follows appropriate protocol for ultrasound studies unless specified differently by the Radiologist.
  • Follows ultrasound protocols for biopsies and other Interventional procedures if required.
  • Assumes accountability for managing delivery of care and patient safety.
  • Produces quality diagnostic images for interpretation.
  • Obtains and documents, patient history and pertinent information.
  • Communicates with attending Radiologist and verifies providers orders.
  • Ensures exam room cleanliness after each procedure. Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care.
  • Prioritizes and organizes work assignments and adjusts priorities based on changing situations.
  • Prepares patient for procedures providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
  • Ability to operate / modify equipment and technical factors as needed.
  • Ensures equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting routine quality control checks.
  • Follows department standards for reporting equipment malfunctions or problems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance of safety, OSHA, and HIPPA regulations.
  • Attends departmental meetings.
