About The Position

This position is for a Full Time Day Ultrasound Tech in the East Hampton Emergency Department. The role involves performing diagnostic Ultrasound examinations independently and maintaining patient safety. The schedule may include days, weekends, nights, and call rotation. The candidate will perform various Ultrasound Imaging techniques including Abdominal, Retroperitoneal, Obstetric and Gynecological, Carotid, Vascular Small Parts, and Intracavity exams. The position requires adherence to hospital and department policies, prompt attendance, and the ability to work assigned schedules, including overtime and calls. The role also involves assisting with training, maintaining a clean work environment, and utilizing appropriate communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team. There may be a need to float to off-site locations and participate in call/on-call/recall duties, including holidays and weekends. As part of employment, travel to other locations may be required to support operational needs. Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke-free environment. This position may require respiratory protection, potentially prohibiting facial hair. It may also be designated as "essential," requiring employees to remain at their work location or report to work during institutional emergencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Graduate of a program in Ultrasound Technology.
  • Certification in Ultrasound or eligible.
  • ARDMS OR ARRT Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Employee Health Services.
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen.
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic Ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by the attending physician.
  • Perform all Ultrasound Imaging techniques and examinations according to established standards and procedures: Abdominal, Retroperitoneal, Obstetric and Gynecological, Carotid, Vascular Small Parts, and Intracavity exams.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Adhere to the hospital and department policies.
  • Work assigned schedule including overtime and calls as scheduled.
  • Assist with training.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work environment.
  • Communicate and use appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and health care team.
  • Float to all off sites as needed.
  • Participate in Call/On-Call/Recall.
  • Work Holidays and Weekends as required.
