The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic general and vascular ultrasound examinations, analyzing images, and communicating findings to the interpreting physician for diagnosis and treatment. This role ensures the quality of ultrasound examinations and proper functioning of equipment, and also involves some clerical duties within the department. The position requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan. Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies is essential. The technologist must apply independent judgment during examinations, acquire additional imaging as needed, and prepare preliminary findings for the interpreting physician. Responsibilities also include preparing the exam room and equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and assisting with the education and training of students, new staff, and residents. The role requires proficiency in obtaining clinical history to guide the diagnostic process and support accurate diagnosis, and may involve taking call for all ultrasound and peripheral vascular exams offered by the department. This is a part-time position working 40 hours every two-week pay period on day shift, with 8-hour days and varying hours.
