Under the direct supervision of a preceptor, the Ultrasound Technologist, OB Apprentice participates in one-on-one training to competently perform all sonographic OB procedures, as well as learning to differentiate between normal and pathological findings. This role involves performing sonographic procedures in a physician clinic setting as ordered by providers under the direction of a precepting sonographer. The apprentice will use cognitive sonographic skills to perform and record procedures, adapting them as necessary due to patient anatomy, pathology, and diagnostic information. Sound judgment is used during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. The role ensures the quality and appropriateness of patient care during day-to-day operations and coordinates care with other members of the healthcare team.
