About The Position

The ultrasound sonographer will be capable of quality imaging by applying proper equipment settings and transducer selections on fixed or portable equipment. They may specialize in gynecological, abdominal, vascular, and other imaging. They must be knowledgeable and skilled in technical selection and positional orientation and produce high-quality images. Sonographers use these images to discriminate between healthy and diseased areas. They are responsible for bringing the physician's attention to any suspected abnormalities. They consult the radiologist/resident as needed but must be capable of independent judgment. They gather additional information related to patient history and analyze and summarize their image findings for the radiologist/resident. They participate in interventional ultrasound procedures, assisting the radiologist/resident as needed. Additionally, they are responsible for cleaning and maintaining their equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of high school diploma
  • Must be a senior-level student in an accredited Ultrasound program
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
  • Non-registered techs must obtain 1 ARDMS registry within 12 months after graduation
  • BLS
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Good customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Basic knowledge of radiation safety
  • Strength to withstand long hours of imaging and utilize correct body mechanics to reduce the risks of wrist and back injuries.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Sound anatomy and physiology knowledge
  • Detail oriented
  • Comfortable working near radiologists/residents and nurses.

  • 1-year previous experience in a hospital setting

Responsibilities
