About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist II performs a full range of diagnostic, surgical, and interventional ultrasound procedures with a high degree of independence and technical proficiency, ensuring all studies meet the established standards of the radiologist, radiation oncologist, and other referring physicians. Serves as a resource and mentor to less experienced staff and students as needed.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited program in Ultrasound Technology
Current American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification
One (1) or more years of ultrasound experience
14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date
12 Months (must have all of the following within twelve (12) months of start date):
Current ARDMS Abdomen (AB) certification
Current ARDMS Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB) certification
Current ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, Physicians and co-workers
Knowledge of ultrasound procedures and equipment use
Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards
Attention to minute detail
Ability to calculate and interpret numbers and analyze and synthesize data
Ability to perform on-call duties

Responsibilities

Independently performs ultrasound procedures in accordance with physician orders and department protocols.
Operates diagnostic ultrasound equipment to evaluate a variety of anatomical structures and medical conditions.
Performs ultrasound examinations and procedures while demonstrating advanced clinical competency across multiple service lines, including abdominal, vascular, obstetric and gynecologic, neonatal, intraoperative, superficial structures and image guiding.
Assists physicians with designated procedures including thoracentesis, needle biopsies, amniocentesis, renal biopsies and similar procedures.
Provides patient and family education and support, promoting a positive patient experience.
Performs quality control procedures, equipment testing, and required documentation in accordance with departmental, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Assists with maintaining departmental quality, safety, and accreditation requirements.
Serves as a clinical resource for peers and assists with problem solving related to patient care and workflow.
Assists with onboarding, training, and competency development of new employees and students under the direction of the Ultrasound Tech III or Lead Ultrasound Technologist.
Maintains a positive work environment through professional interactions with patients, physicians, coworkers, and other customers.
Participates in department call rotation as required.
