About The Position

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. As we continue to expand our services & locations, our community has grown far beyond Paris. Under the general direction of the cardiologist and department manager, performs professional duties and a variety of technical procedures, to produce high-quality diagnostic echocardiogram examinations for cardiologic interpretation. Has latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to perform ultrasound procedures, assist the cardiologist and medical staff whenever possible, and accept the responsibility for all procedures performed. The incumbent may be required to perform assorted administrative, clerical, and other ultrasound duties as directed. The Technologist must maintain proper CME for credentialing and licensure.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent
Must have completed a formal echocardiology training program.
Registered with ARDCS/RCS.
Eligible for state licensure, if applicable
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Can be obtained within 30 days of start date or recertification can be obtained within 30 days of expiration.

Responsibilities

Conducts requested testing in the Cardiology/Radiology department per the physician’s orders.
Obtains patient’s clinical history before beginning any exam.
Demonstrates competency in ultrasound positioning and techniques.
Evaluates echocardiogram exams for technical quality before delivery to the cardiologist.
Must be proficient with several different machines and procedures used for ultrasound testing processes.
Always attempts to understand the patient’s needs, responds accordingly and consistently tries to obtain cooperation with patient regardless of the patient’s age group (infant, child, adolescent, adult, or geriatric).
Inspires confidence from patients, visitors, and families by always performing and communication in a professional manner.
Respects the confidentiality of patient orders and records; uses discretion in discussion of patient health.
Demonstrates concern for cleanliness and infection control by practicing universal controls.
Must be available for call coverage, rotating shifts and disaster call back.
