About The Position

This position is for a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) / Ultrasound Technologist at a rural critical access hospital. The role involves performing interpretive diagnostic studies under the direction of the department manager. The technologist will be responsible for providing quality patient care, utilizing patient and staff safety measures, and ensuring proper sonographic diagnosis. The position requires a commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and department scheduling needs, including good attendance, attitude, customer service, and communication skills. The role is considered an essential worker and is safety-sensitive, with vaccination requirements and a drug-free workplace policy. The position may involve on-call duties and call-backs after hours, weekends, and during emergencies.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from accredited school of Sonography or certificate from accredited technical school of Sonography or Radiography required.
  • Current ARDMS certification in physics and abdomen or ARRT certified in ultrasound required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements and medical terminology.
  • Establish and maintain solid working relationships through communication, cooperation, and positive interactions with all patients/clients, employees, staff, providers, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong customer service skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive communication skills; ability to successfully interact with all customers; continuous demonstration of courteous, cooperative and service orientated behavior.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality and positive patient experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience working in ultrasound in a hospital setting preferred.
  • ARDMS or ARRT certification in the following is preferred: vascular, ECHO, OB/GYN, and breast imaging.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule when circumstances necessitate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform interpretive diagnostic studies as ordered by the referring physician/provider.
  • Exhibit quality patient care and utilize patient and staff safety measures.
  • Choose technical factors to insure proper sonographic diagnosis of patients.
  • Provide safe and appropriate patient care while performing diagnostic studies.
  • Assist radiologist with full patient history and proper tools for exams.
  • Complete all exams fully, including paperwork and billing procedures.
  • Confirm and compare correct patient exam information to minimize discrepancies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked exam rooms.
  • Capture clear diagnostic images of patients by using proper equipment, techniques, and positions.
  • Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
  • Utilize knowledge of all safety measures for protection of patients and staff while administering ultrasound.
  • Perform in other modalities as certified.
