About The Position

This position coordinates patient flow for a specific area, providing general supervision and daily scheduling of employees. The role includes oversight of daily scheduling, evaluation, and documentation of all diagnostic technologists, as well as monthly maintenance of manpower and supply budgets. The supervisor will also maintain, document, and review quality control on equipment to ensure proper functioning. As an Ultrasound Supervisor, you will provide patient care and perform quality procedures efficiently in the assigned modality, coordinating the activities of technical staff on shift. Effective communication between the front desk, relevant departments (Medical Imaging, ER, in-patient units), technologists, and Director/Assistant Director is crucial. The role involves coordinating in-patient, outpatient, and emergency patient flow, demonstrating strong organizational, procedural, and problem-solving skills in a high-stress environment. This coordination includes the ability to organize daily scheduling plans to accommodate all patients. You will identify the care needs of patients and their significant others, implementing interventions and utilizing necessary equipment to meet the specific needs of the patient population served, including Neonates, infants, pediatrics, young adults, middle adults, and late adults.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a JRC/ERT approved Radiologic Technology Program or AMA/RDMS ultrasonography program as determined by work area.
  • Licensed by the State of Maryland.
  • Certification or Registration as appropriate for position.
  • CPR certified as Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association.
  • Two (2) years experience in a similar medical imaging supervisory role.
  • If a specialty area must have three (3) years experience in specialty area as a technologist in a hospital with demonstrated competence in performing the full range of area specific exams, (i.e., CT, Ultrasound, Angio, MRI).
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, human relations and organizational skills in relating to co-workers, physicians, patients and other hospital departments.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, lift, communicate verbally and have visual acuity.
  • Must be able to perform procedures on newborns, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English language.

  • Organizes daily scheduling plans to include all patients.
  • Identifies care needs of patients/significant others and implements interventions and utilizes equipment necessary to meet the specific needs of the patient population served.
