About The Position

The Ultrasound Supervisor provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. Provides supervision to Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland, Walnut Creek and San Ramon sonographers in a radiology modality (e.g. X-ray radiography, ultrasound, MRI, mammography and computed tomography (CT)). May also include supervision of radiology technical support staff. Oversees employees, enforces policies and procedures, and monitors productivity. Supervises staff productivity and performance; resolves or escalates daily clinical, and operational issues.

Requirements

  • Supervision or management of modalities in medical imaging.
  • Use of imaging to diagnose and treat diseases seen within the body.
  • Knowledge of a variety of imaging techniques such as X-ray radiography, bone density, ultrasound, MRI, mammography, neuro interventional radiology, interventional radiology (special procedures), nuclear medicine, and computed tomography (CT).
  • Solid subject matter knowledge.
  • Supervision of staff productivity and performance.
