About The Position

Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physicians. Assists physicians with procedures, providing sonographic guidance during the process, obtaining necessary supplies and equipment, and monitoring patient needs. Teaches ultrasound procedures and techniques to visitors in the department such as residents, students, fellows, and new sonographers. Enhances own professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and conferences. Maintains documentation as required, including patient files, performs data entry, and completes paperwork needed for procedures/processes. Develops film through automatic processing, monitoring darkroom supplies and equipment. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Performs phlebotomy and injections when required. Assists with maintaining supplies and equipment. Assists clerical staff with front desk support when needed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education.
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Registered Diagnostic Cardio - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Responsibilities
