About The Position

1.Performs all ultrasounds. scans. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning, technique selection, administration of contrast media, application of immobilization and radiation protection devices according to department policy and procedures. 2.Receives consultation request and checks for special instructions from the requesting physician. Consults with the Radiologist as necessary. Pleasantly greets patients, confirming their identification and introduces self. Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and his/her family if present. 3.Updates patient examination history file, records unusual conditions/limitations, documents examination time, and technique factors, contrast media injections. Completes examination, consultation, and billing procedures as required. Performs other paperwork as required. 4.Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room or workstation, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items. 5.Age Specific Competency: Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Neonatal/Infant: 0 - 11 months; Pediatrics: 1 - 12 years; Adolescence: 13 - 17 years; Young Adult/Adult: 18 - 64 years; Adult/Middle-Aged: 65 - 79 years; Geriatric: 80+ years 6.Ensures that section meets all policies, procedures, Joint Commission, DFS regulations, protocols, etc. 7.Responsible for ensuring patients are scheduled timely (I.e. time until next available appointment meets standards, etc.) including inpatients, outpatients, emergency room, and add-ons. 8.Coordinates staff schedules including call schedule (I.e. vacation, education, sickness, etc.) to ensure department needs are met including arranging for PRN coverage, etc. 9.Participate in evaluation (90 days, 6 months, and annual) process for associates in section including interviewing, hiring, counseling, etc. 10.Assists the director in budget preparations, equipment selection and recommending procedure changes to the Radiologist. 11.Perform quality control procedures to ensure that the ultrasound equipment operates at optimal levels. o ?Exercise responsibility to ensure that the ultrasound equipment is functioning accurately. ?Assume responsibility for the preventive maintenance program for ultrasound equipment. ?Ensure that appropriate department equipment is secured and provide opportunities for staff input during the equipment selection and purchasing process. ?Provide education and training to sonographers in the utilization of new equipment features/benefits and scanning techniques. 12.Assists the Director with vendors on selection and evaluation of new products, equipment, services, etc. Serves as liaison for section with physicians on issues regarding schedules, issues, capital needs, etc. 1.Serves as preceptor for new employees in section including orientation, competencies, etc. to ensure all completed in a timely manner. 2.Troubleshoots daily operational issues within section and informs/involves Director as necessary. 3.Works with other Managers, other Coordinators, and Director to ensure the entire Imaging Department functions smoothly. 4.Interviews and recommends the hiring of staff and, when necessary, recommends discipline and/or discharges. Effectively counsels and coaches employees when necessary, following guidelines set forth in the policy and procedure manual. 5.Monitors quality of images through random daily review of cases. Tracks and reports on all service-related issues that affect quality. 6.Reports all equipment malfunctions to the appropriate service engineer. 7.Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned rooms or workstations, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items. 8.Assist in the development and maintenance of the Imaging Quality Improvement program. 9.Assist department Manager to ensure that staff professional education requirements are met and maintained, including applicable licensure, certification, and/or accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Two Years Ultrasound Experience
  • Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in ultrasound; BLS certified
  • Diagnostic Equipment
  • Ama Accredited Radiology Program Or Equivalent.
  • Crt/Hospital Computer System
  • Demonstrates Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal.
  • Diplomacy, Tact, And A Positive Approach To Problem Solving Are Required To Be Successful.
  • Organizational Skills Are A Must-Have.
  • Fosters A Teamwork Environment.
  • Must Be Able To Communicate With Patients, Customers, Other Departments, And Staff In An Articulate Manner.
