About The Position

SRMC Has an Exciting Opportunity for Qualified Candidates! Position: Per Diem Ultrasound Echo Tech Department : Ultrasound Shift: Varied, 10 hr shifts PURPOSE The primary purpose of your job position as an Ultrasound Cardiac Sonographer in the Medical Imaging Department is to perform assigned duties in an effective manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by your supervisor to assure that a successful viable department is maintained at all times. Working under the direction of the Director of Medical Imaging and the Medical Imaging Supervisors, performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative. Utilizes ultrasound equipment to produce diagnostic scans in specified body areas. Must care for a patient population which includes adolescents and geriatrics; therefore, must be able to identify the special needs of each patient according to age and respond appropriately. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Verification of successful graduation from an AMA accredited radiology program and ARDMS and RDCS, AE certified or successful completion of an accredited ultrasound program and ARDMS eligible.
  • At least six months training and experience in Cardiac Sonography.
  • General orientation and safety programs must be completed.
  • Technologist should be able to reach full productivity in 60 working days.
  • Has complete understanding of all common ultrasound procedures, sterile techniques and some knowledge of nursing skills.
  • Should possess basic knowledge of how an Imaging Department functions.
  • Should possess good knowledge of how an ultrasound department functions.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Has complete understanding of image processing and clerical procedures
  • Must be able to work with long term and acute care patients.
  • Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in emergencies.
  • Must be able to make quick decisions when necessary.
