About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Radiology, and in consultation with the Medical Director, the Ultrasonographer Technologist performs professional duties involved in a variety of technical procedures within the imaging modality of Diagnostic Ultrasound for Radiological Diagnosis, with latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Duties include scanning of pelvic, OB/GYN, abdominal, small parts, and vascular imaging. Responsible for patient care, comfort and completion of required procedures. Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups. Must maintain the department in compliance with rules and regulations set forth by governing agencies. Follows AIDET and accepts reassignment and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner. On call responsibilities required. If Technologist is trained in multiple modalities, (C.T., MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology), on call responsibilities will be assumed for two of the aforementioned modalities during the call period. Example: (Ultrasound/Nuclear medicine or C.T./Radiography). Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act. (Gov’t. Code §§ 3100, 3102) Needs to recognize that they have an affirmative duty and responsibility for reporting perceived misconduct, including actual or potential violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or this organization’s standards/code of conduct. The employee shall work well under pressure, meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines; and the incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. Requirements

1+ years of experience working as an Ultrasonographer.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

If Technologist is trained in multiple modalities, (C.T., MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology), on call responsibilities will be assumed for two of the aforementioned modalities during the call period. Example: (Ultrasound/Nuclear medicine or C.T./Radiography).

Responsibilities

Performs Diagnostic Ultrasound procedures using prescribed positions, technical factors and immobilization devices, as required, and is responsible for the quality of the images.
Selects, operates and maintains equipment as directed.
Assists in instruction of students in respective areas. Responsible for instructing Technologists and students in Ultrasound procedures.
Responsible for delegated areas in the assignment of routine Ultrasound procedures and exams.
Secures, maintains, and/or returns required supplies and Ultrasound accessories.
Performs basic equipment function checks at the beginning of each shift.
Is responsible for the sending of exams on a daily basis, and ensuring that all exam data, worksheets and notes are complete in the Synapse P.A.C.S. System.
Responsible for the proper handling of equipment, and calls for service as needed.
Renders professional care in Ultrasound Department and provides for the patient’s comfort as much as possible throughout the procedure.
Assists physicians with invasive procedures, i.e. biopsies, cyst aspiration, and amniocentesis.
Is responsible for the patient charges and the quality of the images produced in Ultrasound.
Accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner.
Follows AIDET
Maintains an average of no more than 2-3 errors and in the Computed Radiography system 2-3 errors = 4.
Demonstrates capability to document all necessary measurements, sonographer findings and anatomy in a manner consistent with the guidelines set forth by the Medical Director
Notifies radiologist of exams requiring STAT readings during and after normal business hours. Sends exams requiring Teleradiology reads in a timely manner to Teleradiology Company. Scan returned reports into Teleradiology system.
