About The Position

This position involves operating medical imaging equipment that directs high-frequency sound waves to anatomy for diagnostic purposes. The responsibilities include choosing correct settings, directing patients to move into positions for the best view, and consistently obtaining high-quality imaging for Radiologist interpretation. A general understanding of PACS (Picture Archive Communication System) and its function is required. The role also involves documenting patient care services by charting in patient and hospital records, and interacting compassionately and effectively with the sick or injured. The ability to utilize specialized computerized equipment to produce cross-sectional images of the human anatomy, which aid Radiologists in diagnosing diseases and/or disorders, is essential.

Requirements

  • General understanding of PACS (Picture Archive Communication System) and its function.
  • Able to interact compassionately and effectively with the sick or injured.
  • Ability to utilize specialized computerized equipment to produce cross sectional images of the human anatomy which aid Radiologists in diagnosing diseases and/or disorders.
  • Able to demonstrate adequate images of anatomy for proper diagnosis.
  • Able to demonstrate anatomy necessary for examination performed.
  • Ability to utilize full operation of the U/S units and probes.
  • Ability to obtain adequate imaging of requested anatomy.
  • Correct labeling of body part and viewing plane.
  • Demonstrates adequate knowledge of PACS system and ability to utilize the system.
  • Ability to send images after hours when required.
  • Shows competence within EPIC.
  • Competent to perform high level disinfection of endocavity probes per policy.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records for all procedures performed, maintaining patient confidentiality, and adhering to all HIPAA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Chooses correct settings and directs the patient to move into positions that will offer the best view.
  • Consistently obtains high quality imaging for Radiologist interpretation.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and hospital records.

  • Prepares patients for ultrasound examinations and other special procedures as directed.
  • Able to demonstrate adequate images of anatomy for proper diagnosis.
  • Consults with radiologist for exam review prior to patient discharge.
  • Provides ultrasound guidance for attending physicians in special procedures.
  • Able to demonstrate anatomy necessary for examination performed.
  • Responsible for trouble-shooting techniques with respect to machine malfunction.
  • Notifies Clinical Engineering if needed.
  • Makes sure clinical history is appropriate.
  • Verifies orders and patient identification with the two established identifiers.
  • Utilizes full operation of the U/S units and probes.
  • Obtains adequate imaging of requested anatomy.

  • Demonstrates adequate knowledge of PACS system and ability to utilize the system.
