About The Position

Performs high quality Ultrasound imaging. Assists in the daily routines of the ultrasound department. Assists the RN and physician in the performance of interventional procedures. Responsible for the coordination and ongoing evaluation of the daily schedule in fitting in add on exams. Comply with the professional and ethical standards of the American Association of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.

Requirements

  • Registry with ARDMS, CCI or ARRT within 12 months of hire
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program OR Graduate of a two-year allied health education program that is patientcare related, such as radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist or registered nurse with 1 year completion of documented ultrasound clinical experience/employment OR Graduate of a non-CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program with 1 year fulltime documented ultrasound experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs ultrasound procedures on patients in accordance with physician orders.
  • Assists the physician during those ultrasound procedures requiring the physician's presence.
  • Lifts and moves patients with assistance.
  • Labels and processes all studies correctly to assure prompt and quality medical care.
  • Notes pertinent clinical information.
  • Operates all stationary and mobile x-ray equipment available to the Medical Imaging department, except for the ultrasound and C.T. equipment.
  • Notifies supervisor of equipment deficiencies.
  • Develops x-rays and assists in maintaining processing equipment by assuring that chemical solutions are kept at prescribed levels.
  • Assures the continued and safe operation of all equipment assigned to the ultrasound department.
  • Notifies supervisor of any deficiencies.
  • Assures a sufficient level of supplies required for an ultrasound departmental operation.
  • Notifies supervisor of shortages in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the training of student X-ray technologists.
  • Is responsible for their actions with regard to patient care.
  • Assists in the training of staff radiological technologists assigned to the specialty area of ultrasound.
