About The Position

Ultrasonographer II - Full Time, Days. This role is responsible for explaining procedures to patients, performing complex ultrasound procedures with age-related considerations, adjusting ultrasound parameters, assisting radiologists with invasive procedures, processing and manipulating images, analyzing image quality, troubleshooting, suggesting differential diagnoses, and utilizing proper downtown procedures for PACS, Ambra, and HIS/RIS. The position also involves working with staff to ensure proper image processing for CDs, PACS, or Ambra as needed. Texas Health Plano is a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas, specializing in emergency medicine and trauma, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine, advanced orthopedics, women’s services, adult and adolescent behavioral health, an adult intensive care unit, and technologically advanced surgical services. It is a Level II Trauma Facility, the only healthcare facility in Collin County with Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal facility designations, and has a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. Texas Health Plano is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital, has the only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit in the DFW area, is accredited by the Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement, and is a Primary Heart Attack Center.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required
Graduate of an AMA accredited school of Ultrasound Technology preferred
Associates degree preferred
2 years of clinical experience in hospital radiology preferred
ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and one additional modality (must include RT(VS) if performing vascular sonography upon hire required
ARDMS – American Registry for Diagnostic and Medical Sonographers with 2 certifications (must include RVT if performing vascular sonography required
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required

Responsibilities

Explain procedures to patient or guardian/family member if applicable prior to and during exam.
Perform complex procedures including age related criteria and developmental considerations.
Adjust ultrasound parameters appropriately for age related factors
Assist Radiologist with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique
Process and manipulate images, analyze image quality, troubleshoot, and suggest differential diagnosis
Utilize proper downtown procedures for PACS, Ambra and HIS/RIS
Work in tandem with staff to ensure laser images are placed of CD from modalityor, PACSare printed or Ambra as needed
