About The Position

The Radiology Department at Texas Health Plano is seeking an Ultrasonographer II to join their team. This PRN position offers rotating shifts and the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art imaging equipment in a supportive and diverse team environment. The role provides great opportunities to develop and expand technical skills in various settings including the OR, ER, Trauma, and outpatient environments. Texas Health Plano has served the communities of Plano, Frisco, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson, and McKinney since 1991. It is a 386-bed, full-service hospital specializing in emergency medicine and trauma, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine, advanced orthopedics, women’s services, adult and adolescent behavioral health, an adult intensive care unit, and technologically advanced surgical services. It is a Level II Trauma Facility, the only healthcare facility in Collin County to have achieved both Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal facility designation, and has a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. Texas Health Plano is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital, the only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit in the DFW area, accredited by the Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement, and a Primary Heart Attack Center.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required
ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and one additional modality upon hire required OR ARDMS – American Registry for Diagnostic and Medical Sonographers with 2 certifications upon hire required
RVT or VT(RVS) as one modality if performing vascular sonography upon hire required
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required

Nice To Haves

Graduate of an AMA accredited school of Ultrasound Technology preferred
Associates degree preferred
2 years of clinical experience in hospital radiology preferred

Responsibilities

Explain procedures to patient or guardian/family member if applicable prior to and during exam.
Perform complex procedures including age related criteria and developmental considerations.
Adjust ultrasound parameters appropriately for age related factors.
Assist Radiologist with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique.
Process and manipulate images, analyze image quality, troubleshoot, and suggest differential diagnosis.
Utilize proper downtown procedures for PACS, Ambra and HIS/RIS.
Work in tandem with staff to ensure laser images are placed of CD from modality or, PACS are printed or Ambra as needed.
