About The Position

ENSCO Rail, Inc. is seeking a Senior Technician with demonstrated Ultrasonic Rail Testing experience to conduct railroad track inspection operations involving the use of measurement tools and systems, electronics troubleshooting, and computer operation. Position involves interpretation of railroad-published documents to derive train speed information; review and analysis of track measurement data for reporting; and operating hi-rail commercial motor vehicles. This position includes some vehicle maintenance for rail survey cars and hi-rail vehicles. The incumbent will also complete regular housekeeping duties for safety and sanitation purposes aboard survey vehicles. In addition, as part of this role, you may expect to support non-Ultrasonic Rail Testing surveys onboard ENSCO’s inspection fleet or conduct offline data assessment. This position is based at ENSCO’s customer sites and requires the incumbent to routinely be dispatched to survey vehicles and maintain a professional demeanor as a representative of ENSCO. Some international travel may be required. If you love to travel and know your way around complex electro-mechanical systems, this position may be for you. Work schedule – 3 weeks of continuous travel, followed by 1 week off – no work, it’s your time. Live anywhere in the U.S. We fly you to work sites. We pay for flights, hotels, plus per diem.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Public Trust background investigation.
  • Resided in the United States for at least three (3) of the past five (5) years.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in the railroad industry maintaining electrical, electromechanical, or mechanical systems.
  • At least 3 years operating ultrasonic rail flaw inspection systems on rail vehicles with strong knowledge of the theory of operation and interpretation of A and B-scan data.
  • Level II (two) certification in Ultrasonic Testing inspection technology (UT/NDT) or able to acquire Level II qualification within 4 weeks of employment.
  • Familiarity with 49 CRF parts 213 and 214.
  • Experience with workplace safety programs.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as MS Word; Excel; PowerPoint; and Outlook.
  • Experience reading electrical or electronic schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience conducting equipment/machinery inspections (periodic maintenance inspection, preventative maintenance) and equipment upkeep.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Operating System; transferring files on a network, copying, and pasting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with tape measure and similar measuring tools.
  • Functional knowledge of mathematics and fraction measurements.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation Public Trust.
  • Passing a Federal pre-employment drug test.
  • Undergoing and passing a random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Passing an e-RAILSAFE security background check, including financial status, and online safety exams.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. a distance of at least 150 feet.
  • Ability to climb a ladder 15 feet high in order to access roof spaces of survey vehicles.
  • Ability to work in close quarters, under and about survey vehicles.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather.
  • Ability to work 12 hours or longer.
  • Ability to perform as a safety watchman in a railroad environment.
