About The Position

Raytheon, an RTX business, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) to support the Ultra Stack Munition Acceleration Program. This IPTL will lead mechanical engineering efforts and drive supplier‑focused risk‑reduction activities to increase production velocity, support surge capacity, and optimize mechanical component quality and availability. The candidate will partner closely with Operations & Supply Chain Management (OSCM) and Manufacturing Program Management (MPM) to identify, qualify, and mature a robust supplier base for critical Ultra Stack components. High organizational discipline and strong cross‑functional collaboration are essential to success. This position is onsite in Tucson, Arizona.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience in mechanical design, analysis, modeling, and hardware integration.
  • Experience leading engineering teams or IPT‑style execution.
  • Experience collaborating with Operations/Supply Chain on supplier development or manufacturing readiness.
  • Ability to obtain Raytheon PM Level 6 Certification within 12 months.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required before the start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in production ramp‑ups, manufacturing engineering, or supplier‑based risk reduction.
  • Familiarity with munition systems, mechanical packaging, energetics components, or high-rate production environments.
  • Experience evaluating multiple suppliers, conducting technical audits, and qualifying manufacturing sources.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with CREO (Modeling and Drawing), Windchill (PDM), and Tolerance analysis, Agile workflows, or digital engineering tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of engineering execution across mechanical design, development, integration, and testing to support Ultra Stack production ramp up activities.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager and Chief Engineer to define project schedules, budgets, staffing needs, and ensure adherence to milestones.
  • Drive mechanical engineering tasks aligned with RTX Mechanical Engineering discipline guidelines (design, modeling, structural/thermal analysis, materials evaluation, mechanical integration).
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and mentorship to mechanical and cross‑functional teams.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate technical, schedule, and supplier‑related risks; develop structured risk‑reduction plans.
  • Serve as the primary engineering interface with internal and external stakeholders, communicating status, risks, opportunities, and technical direction.
  • Partner with Operations & Supply Chain MPM to identify, vet, and select suppliers capable of supporting production surge requirements.
  • Evaluate and qualify multiple suppliers per part, enabling parallel production paths to meet rate demands.
  • Apply familiarity with Ultra Stack architecture, components, and tolerances to ensure mechanical integrity.
  • Balance quality vs. quantity by assessing supplier capability, defect rates, and throughput constraints.
  • Develop and implement strategies to shift testing upstream to suppliers to reduce downstream inspection load and mitigate high‑defect‑risk components.
  • Support onsite and offsite supplier assessments, capability reviews, readiness audits, and production ramp‑up activities.
  • Maintain disciplined tracking of supplier progress, engineering actions, configuration status, risk items, and quality trends — high organizational capability is critical.
