About The Position

The Learning Enterprise at ASU seeks creative, highly motivated, self-directed, detail-oriented candidates with strong written and verbal skills, to assist with grading and course management for our Universal Learner Courses (ULC), which are delivered remotely. ULCs are scalable and delivered asynchronously, and can have between 200-1,000+learners in each course. Hours are not guaranteed and can vary between 5-20 hours per week, per 8-week session. Future sessions may be available, but not guaranteed. The ULC Instructional Aide(s) for Business and Life Skills will support faculty with learner assessment in online courses by providing feedback, as well as grade support, to learners on in-class activities and assignments. The ULC Instructional Aide(s) will monitor and grade assignments, and may be tasked to help learners navigate challenges within the Universal Learner Course. Areas/Courses of Interest: The successful candidate will be able to grade in one or more of the following areas: Economics and Finance Computer Information and Cloud Systems Engineering Applied Business Data Analytics Project Management and Organizational Leadership Learning Success and Special Projects This is a temporary part-time position, with maximum hours of 19.5 per week. It may terminate when the work is no longer available. Continuation of role in sessions beyond class session for which hired for, is not guaranteed. ASU will not sponsor this position; the applicant must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. This position does not meet the eligibility requirements for the Optional Practical Training (OPT) work authorization. This position requires fingerprinting as a mandatory step in the hiring process. The successful candidate must complete the fingerprinting process of scheduling an appointment and being printed as soon as possible. This role will be based in the state of Arizona; special permissions for out-of-state employment are required and may not be granted Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis as positions become available.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Significant understanding of course concepts.
Proficient in English, must have completed ENG 101, ENG 102, ENG 105 or equivalent.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Must complete fingerprinting process.

Prior teaching experience is a plus, with preference given to those who have experience working with high-school students.
Experience as a tutor and/or with student success.
Experience with Canvas or comparable Learning Management System.
Ability to work proactively with limited oversight.
Ability to excel in changing or challenging circumstances.
Content knowledge and/or coursework in a related field.
Commitment to provide consistent support to students.

Responsibilities

Provide feedback and grade learner assignments in a timely manner.
Address learner challenges within the course shell via Discussion boards.
Monitor and engage in discussion activities within course Discussion boards.
Host live sessions with learners, as assigned by faculty members.
Participate in initial training sessions and other calibration sessions as needed.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Learning Enterprise team.
