About The Position

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Work at Home Bilingual Ukrainian-English Video-Phone Interpreter. This role involves using your language skills to improve the lives of limited-English speakers and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. Support is available from a Senior Language Specialist and the Interpreter and Technology Help Desks.

Requirements

Fluency in Ukrainian and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
Ability to concentrate, stay detached, remain neutral and objective, and remain on calls involving sensitive subjects.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and write the requested languages – highly preferred.
Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
Desktop/Laptop Computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS, or Tablets (iPadOS or Android), or Smartphones (iOS or Android).
High-speed Internet connection with download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, Ping value of no more than 300 ms, Jitter value of no more than 30 ms.
Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain in a stationary position.
Must use a headset for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to operate company-provided software and systems.
Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
Able to lift up to 26 lbs.

Nice To Haves

Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred.
Must be able to adapt to any LLS technology enhancements that improve service delivery and meet client demands.

Responsibilities

Handle calls on demand, rendering the meaning of conversations between Ukrainian and English speakers.
Break communication barriers in industries such as Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.
Process information quickly and concisely, recognizing sensitive cultural differences.
Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times, using appropriate terminology and understanding common industry procedures.
Perform verbal translation for simple or complex, technical or non-technical subjects via video and audio.
Respond to video and audio interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions.
Deliver interpretation services via video and expediently type data on a dedicated device.
Render correct concepts and meanings according to interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
Maintain a professional demeanor throughout video and audio interpreting sessions.
Remain calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations.
Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
Follow client instructions and protocol to ensure client expectations are met.
Understand protocol and terminology for various industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
Provide company-standard service within a dynamic environment, which may include highly emotional or stressful calls, extended periods without breaks, or high call volumes.
