About The Position

Breeze Airways is seeking a UI/UX Designer to lead the design of all internal applications for its Operations Control Center (OCC). This role is crucial for developing the next generation of tools that support airline operations, specifically focusing on the Operations Control Tool used for network operation and disruption recovery. The designer will also create interfaces for dispatchers, crew services, and duty managers, ensuring clarity and usability in mission-critical software that coordinates flights, crews, aircraft, and stations. The position involves working closely with a dedicated product team from idea conception through to continuous improvement, with a strong emphasis on translating high-stakes, real-time decisions into calm and legible interfaces. A key aspect of the role will be shaping how AI assists operators through human-in-the-loop patterns, ensuring transparency, guardrails, and audit trails for trust. The designer will also be responsible for maintaining the Moxy Design System and incorporating UI/UX best practices.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in UI/UX, graphic, or multimedia design or a combination of education and relevant work experience
  • 3–5 years of UI/UX design experience, including work on complex, data-dense, or workflow-heavy software
  • Strong portfolio of past work
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate and collaborate with other designers, product managers, and developers to ensure delivery of the best possible experience
  • Comfort designing for real-time systems and for multiple distinct user roles working from the same underlying data
  • Ability to design UI flows and layouts according to the needs of all stakeholders
  • Proficient with Figma and Storybook, or similar tools
  • High-performance orientation, ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Self-starter, must have a positive attitude and strong desire for success
  • Complete projects on time with minimal supervision, ability to work varied hours when necessary to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Design for operational users, translating high-stakes, real-time decisions into interfaces that stay calm and legible under pressure
  • Partner with other UI/UX Designers, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to guide our user experience
  • Shape how AI assists operators, designing human-in-the-loop “propose & apply” patterns with the transparency, guardrails, and audit trails operators need to trust an AI recommendation
  • Translate ideas into user flows, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and final designs
  • Maintain understanding of different devices, their operating systems, and interfaces
  • Build and maintain operational components in our Moxy Design System across Figma & Storybook, extending the system for data-dense ops patterns
  • Incorporate UI/UX best practices and adapt designs for responsive formats
  • Conduct user research with frontline operators: interviews, usability tests, and observation on the ops floor in the OCC
  • Keep abreast of new developments/technology that could be utilized by the organization to retain its competitive advantage
  • Consider brand and design system integrity throughout the development process
  • Perform image optimization for production-ready assets
