About The Position

The UGE Lineman performs varied construction and maintenance work on underground power lines, from plant or station to meter base, as well as on auxiliary facilities and equipment used to distribute electricity. The role supports the Line team and works with personnel from other departments. Work is performed in a field environment and involves physical activity, including lifting and working in varied weather conditions.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, judge distance and spatial relationships, coordinate hand and eye movements precisely, and identify and distinguish colors.

Nice To Haves

5 or more years of experience.
OSHA 10 Certification.

Responsibilities

Drive a truck to jobsites and maintain truck stock.
Provide services for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the customer’s electrical distribution system.
Perform switching procedures to isolate and insulate, splice, and terminate underground power lines while following safety procedures.
Set and work on underground transformers and other devices.
Properly phase and mark or tag underground equipment.
Connect, disconnect, install, remove, move, and transfer electrical devices at customer facilities, including transformers, transformer banks, regulators, switches, switching devices, and capacitor banks.
Keep current on changes to records, reports, and related information affecting the position.
Investigate consumer complaints and make repairs to energized electrical distribution lines.
Be responsible for personal actions and any personnel, vehicles, or equipment in their care, custody, or control.
Immediately report personal and vehicle accidents or incidents to supervisors and cooperate with investigations.
Set a good example for less experienced employees by following and teaching safe practices.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
