About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a UCSSAL Girls Middle School Basketball Head Coach who is passionate about both basketball and helping students grow physically, spiritually, socially, and intellectually. This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. The UCSSAL Girls Middle School Basketball Head Coach is expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, leading the middle school girls basketball team as head coach, upholding the mission and standards of American Heritage School. Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement on and off campus. Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.

Requirements

Basketball background
Experience with basketball
Experience coaching
An enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning
The ability to use sports as a tool to build better disciples of Jesus Christ and Christian character
A commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Strong communication and management skills

Responsibilities

Leading the middle school girls basketball team as head coach
Upholding the mission and standards of American Heritage School
Integrating faith-based principles and moral reasoning into the athletics program where appropriate
Serving as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students
Supporting and upholding the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues
Responding thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission
