About The Position

Serves as a K-5 Classroom Demonstration Teacher for the UC Irvine Mathematics Project (IMP). Independently uses adopted key components of the signature program(s) that will be presented; meets the specific needs of training audience and is able to design and customize content to meet the identified needs of the group/district; is knowledgeable of the content standards and major pedagogical strategies for the different grade levels in which the program will be applied.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of CA Common Core Standards for Mathematics (CA CCSS-M) and current educational research and policies on mathematics pedagogical content knowledge
  • Strong ability to conduct model lessons in diverse K-5 classrooms
  • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated skill to synthesize the collective knowledge of teacher-leaders, scholars, and researchers, and translate it into practical instructional routines and learning
  • Experience teaching in K-8 classrooms
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Continuing education in related field required
  • California Teaching Credential
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Minimum of ten years of credentialed teaching experience or equivalent
  • Experience leading professional development in diverse districts
  • Required to hold a valid drivers license
  • Have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures
  • Enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

  • Thorough and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills
  • Experience leading number talks and implementing 3-read protocols in K-8 math classrooms
  • Attended professional development to understand CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction)
  • Master's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
