About The Position

This position supports safety inspections of elevators and other lifting equipment across the Commonwealth. The work helps ensure that these devices operate properly and meet all required standards. As a UCC Elevator Inspector Trainee, you will perform the following duties: Inspect elevators and lifting devices for proper load design, safe operation, and functioning safety features. Examine mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components within hoistways, machinery areas, and related systems. Review new installations and major repairs to confirm they match approved plans and meet State requirements. Determine when equipment must be removed from service due to unsafe conditions. Prepare inspection reports and recommendations to correct safety issues and ensure code compliance. Explain rules and regulations to contractors, inspectors, engineers, and equipment owners.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in the construction, inspection, installation, maintenance, repair, or design of elevators, passenger ropeways, or other lifting devices, electronic equipment, electrical systems, heavy machinery, motors, engines, drives or hydraulic systems.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Must live in or be willing to relocate to Clarion, Forest, and Lawrence County by date of hire.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as an Elevator Inspector within the probationary period.
  • A valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as a Passenger Ropeway Inspector within the probationary period.
