About The Position

This person will facilitate a non-credit course during our UB/UBMS six-week summer institute(s) for current UB/UBMS high school participants between 9th and 12th grade. Topics can range from math, science, civil rights, communications, financial literacy, foreign language, STEM, computer literacy, arts & humanities, etc. UB/UBMS summer staff will provide leadership and direction, safe and supportive environments, comfort and protection to the students, parents, and staff of the UB/UBMS program. It is essential to be respectful of staff, students, UT personnel, and UB/UBMS families. Refrain from participating in all illegal acts.

Requirements

  • Proficient in content area, at minimum, the high school level course equivalents.
  • Experience working with high school youth.
  • Positive, responsible, proactive, engaging, respective and mature role models.
  • Ability to provide leadership.
  • Ability to work within team structures.
  • Ability to direct student groups.
  • Strong communication skills (2-way communication is essential).
  • Critical thinking skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience.
