About The Position
COLSA is seeking a UAS Training Specialist/Operator to support the expansion of its uncrewed aerial systems capabilities at its Madison, Alabama facility. The role serves as a subject matter expert in developing and delivering training materials for UAS platforms and applies hands-on UAS operating knowledge to help trainees prepare for real-world scenarios. The position delivers classroom and field-based instruction, supports UAS system preparation and maintenance, and may require deployment to customer locations to provide training.

- Expertise in developing and delivering training for UAS platforms.
Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom and field-based training on commercial UAS platforms, covering system operation, safety, and mission execution.
- Develop, update, and maintain training curricula, materials, and practical exercises based on current system configurations and operational requirements.
- Perform system calibrations, programming, and flight tests before aircraft are delivered to customers.
- Assist the Field Engineering team with installation, configuration, and integration of replacement parts, sensors, and payloads, and validate performance through system testing.
- Perform upgrades, complex troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on airframes, avionics, propulsion systems, and payloads.
- Conduct customer demonstrations and hands-on instruction tailored to different skill levels and mission needs.
- Evaluate trainee performance and provide feedback to support knowledge transfer and operational readiness.
- Lead and support mission-planning activities during training events, including system setup, execution, and post-mission review.
- Provide on-site technical guidance during training on system use, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices.
- Perform system demonstrations, testing, and validation activities in support of training objectives.
- Maintain accurate training records, documentation, and reports, including attendance, performance metrics, and course feedback.
- Support installation, configuration, and integration of UAS components used during training events.
- Deploy to customer locations to deliver training as needed.
