About The Position

Assist in the implementation of education programs by providing academic tutoring to students. This role involves providing appropriate learning materials and experiences, assisting students in small group or one-on-one sessions to enhance their education and support them in achieving learning objectives. The tutor will assess student progress, adjust instructional methods, provide adult supports, and participate in training. Maintaining accurate records, adhering to school policies, and demonstrating fairness, dignity, and respect are key aspects of the position.

Requirements

• Valid Kentucky teaching certificate
• Knowledge of basic instructional methods and techniques.
• Knowledge of basic learning theory applicable to the student group served.
• Knowledge of students with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
• Knowledge of basic subjects taught in District schools including arithmetic, reading, writing, grammar, and spelling.
• Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
• Knowledge of classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct.
• Knowledge of policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
• Knowledge of applicable sections of Kentucky Administrative Regulations and other applicable laws.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Ability to provide instruction working with children with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
• Ability to monitor and evaluate student progress.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to maintain routine records.
• Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Ability to maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements and restrictions.
• Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
• Ability to plan and organize work.

Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate learning materials and experience for participants.
• Assist students in small group or one-on-one sessions to enhance their education and provide support in achieving learning objectives set by the school.
• Assess the students’ progress throughout tutoring sessions and adjust instructional methods and content focus as necessary.
• Provide adult supports, activities, and sessions.
• Participate in tutor training and development sessions.
• Maintain accurate records and provide data to appropriate personnel.
• Treat all individuals with fairness, dignity, and respect.
• Adhere to SBDM and McCracken County Public School Board policies and procedures.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Maintain a professional and appropriate appearance.
• Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics.
