About The Position

The job of Expanded Learning Opportunities Program - Tutor is done for the purpose/s of assisting students with enrichment curriculum, tutoring, academic assessment, student supervision, and other related work as required.

Requirements

  • Skills are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
  • Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
  • Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: concepts of grammar and punctuation; stages of child development and learning styles: and age appropriate activities.
  • Ability is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment.
  • Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes: and operate equipment using standardized methods.
  • Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment.
  • In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans.
  • Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited.
  • Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities: working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.
  • Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others.
  • Utilization of resources from other work units is sometimes required to perform the job's functions.
  • Job related experience is required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Pre-employment Proficiency Test (AA or 48 college level None Specified semester units may be required)
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance, TB Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic assistance and support to all students during designated times.
  • Assists students with the use of technology.
  • Administer assessments to student participants.
  • Monitor individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. copying, correcting papers, taking attendance, phone calls, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the site facilitator and/or in providing necessary records/materials.
  • Promotes good general order and conduct among the students participating in the ELO Program.
  • Distributing nutritional items to students.
  • Coordination of homework assignments for students.
  • Supervise and coordinate inside and outside physical activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the ELO Program.
