About The Position

Provide supplemental tutoring to identified students. This role involves providing in-person academic assistance in areas of greatest need, utilizing differentiated instruction to help students grasp challenging concepts. The tutor will collaborate with teachers regarding student academic needs, strengths, and weaknesses, and engage students in appropriate academic activities to help them develop strong study skills. The position requires establishing and maintaining rapport with students, keeping records of student progress, and providing evaluations and reports as requested by the Title I Department. Participation in scheduled meetings and data analysis to tailor instruction are also key components of this role.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate. (May qualify with an expired teaching certificate.)
  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  • Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Must be able to be present at the physical worksite.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communication skills are essential factors in performing essential tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supplemental, in-person tutoring/academic assistance in the student’s area or areas of greatest need.
  • Use differentiated instruction tailored to students' unique learning needs, helping them grasp challenging concepts.
  • Collaborate with the student’s teacher concerning student academic needs, strengths, and weaknesses and how best to meet the student’s needs.
  • Engage students in appropriate academic activities.
  • Help students develop strong study skills.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with students.
  • Maintain records of student progress.
  • Provide evaluations and other reports as requested by the Title I Department.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings.
  • Monitor progress and analyze data to tailor instruction based on the students’ specific needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
