The Dr. Julia N. Visor Academic Center, a division of University College at Illinois State University, aims to assist students in making successful transitions, achieving educational goals, and realizing their academic potential. The center offers specialized communities, programs, and services, including facilitated study groups, writing assistance, learning workshops, and developmental and transitional courses. The tutor's role is to provide personalized help to students, requiring them to be friendly, helpful, and effective communicators. While tutoring is the primary responsibility, tutors will also perform other tasks assigned by graduate assistant supervisors and the Coordinator of Academic Support Services. Content tutors specifically provide weekly small-group tutoring for lower-level courses at Illinois State University. This application is for an applicant pool, and applications will be reviewed mid-semester or when staffing needs arise.
