About The Position

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is a not-for-profit, independent university founded in 1964, known for academic excellence and innovation. This is a temporary position focused on marine turtle conservation outreach. The role involves conducting educational presentations and participating in community outreach events. All applicants must already be an employee of the Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program to be considered. As a temporary position, it is not eligible for company benefits.

Requirements

  • Must already be an employee of the Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Communicate messages of conservation effectively to member of the community.
  • Be able to communicate and maintain working relationships with all contracted staff, volunteers, County and Federal employees, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be able to complete all required training modules for each component of beach monitoring activities.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • Biology or related science major.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach in congruent with marine turtle conservation strategies outlined in the Marine Turtle Permit and Guidelines as set forth by FWC under the supervision of an FWC permitted Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation program administrator, Principle Investigator, or Project Manager.
  • Present an educational presentation to the general public.
  • Participate in local outreach events throughout the community including but not limited to table talks, school events, hatchling releases, and other events around Broward County.
  • Participate in public and private hatchling releases within Broward County.
