Responsible for the operation of production equipment to produce quality products meeting customer specifications. The set-up operator is trained to run all equipment and jobs within the department, consistently meeting or exceeding production standards. Under the direction of the shift manager or team leader, the set-up operator will be assigned to set up equipment for which they have been trained, demonstrating extensive knowledge in tooling, machine capabilities, procedures in setting, and machine operation. They will be able to set machines from standardized work instructions and/or written instructions. The operator should acquire personal hand tools related to the various machines they will be required to operate or assist in operating, as well as for set up and adjustments. Must maintain a safe, clean, orderly and hazard-free work area, promote safety at all times, and have knowledge of all safety rules, ensuring all work is done in a safe manner. Additionally, the role requires conformity to all Wayne Metals, LLC environmental policies, programs, and procedures, as well as all State of Indiana laws and regulations, and reporting any environmental concerns to a Supervisor, Environmental Management Representative, or the Plant Manager.
