About The Position

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a remote Video-Phone Interpreter who will use their Turkish and English language skills to bridge communication gaps for limited-English speakers and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. Requirements

Fluency in Turkish and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
Ability to concentrate, stay detached, remain neutral and objective, and remain on calls involving sensitive subjects.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must have work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and write the requested languages – highly preferred.
Must be able to adapt to LLS technology enhancements.
Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
Desktop/Laptop Computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS, or Tablets (iPadOS or Android), or Smartphones (iOS or Android).
High-speed Internet connection with minimum download speeds of 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, Ping value of no more than 300 ms, and Jitter value of no more than 30 ms.
Must have access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain in a stationary position for the majority of the workday.
Must use a headset for prolonged periods.
Must be able to operate company-provided software and systems.
Must have sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
Able to lift up to 26 lbs.

Nice To Haves

Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred.

Responsibilities

Handle calls on demand and render the meaning of conversations between Turkish and English speakers.
Break communication barriers in industries such as Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.
Process information quickly and concisely, recognizing sensitive cultural differences.
Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times, using appropriate terminology and understanding industry procedures.
Perform verbal translation for video and audio interpreting sessions, which may involve simple or complex, technical or non-technical subjects.
Respond to video and audio interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions.
Deliver interpretation services via video and expediently type data on a dedicated device.
Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
Maintain a professional demeanor throughout all interpreting sessions.
Remain calm during interpreting sessions, even if speakers are incoherent or upset, especially in emergency situations.
Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
Follow client instructions and protocol to ensure client expectations are met.
Understand protocol and terminology for various industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
Provide company-standard service within a dynamic environment, which may include highly emotional or stressful calls, extended call durations, or high call volumes.
