Requirements

• Two years of experience in roadway maintenance and repair, emergency services, towing and roadside assistance, or traffic control work, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Possession of an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations.
• Demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission.
• Possess an active Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver’s License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed, or equivalent on their first day of employment.
• Obtain within the probationary period an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders.
• Obtain additional certifications issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on assigned pieces of equipment during the probationary period.
• Able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Clean facilities, maintain drainage systems, and carry out repairs on tunnel structures
• Assist during traffic incidents with vehicle removal, debris clearing, and basic motorist support
• Observe tunnel operations for traffic flow, CO levels, and safety hazards
• Relay clear information to coworkers and responders using radio, phone, and direct communication
• Handle trucks, washing equipment, gates, and towing apparatus safely and efficiently
• Place cones, signs, and protective devices to secure work areas
