DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports safe and efficient tunnel operations through maintenance, monitoring, and incident response. It plays an essential role in protecting motorists and ensuring smooth traffic flow at all times.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in roadway maintenance and repair, emergency services, towing and roadside assistance, or traffic control work, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possession of an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations.
  • Demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission.
  • Possess an active Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver’s License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed, or equivalent on their first day of employment.
  • Obtain within the probationary period an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders.
  • Obtain additional certifications issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on assigned pieces of equipment during the probationary period.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning, repairs, and upkeep of tunnel structures, buildings, and grounds
  • Assist motorists, remove debris, and manage traffic disruptions during emergencies
  • Observe tunnel conditions, detect hazards, and track vehicle and air quality concerns
  • Use towing devices, wash trucks, and other tools to support tunnel functions
  • Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and support a safe work environment
  • Inspect equipment and complete required forms before beginning work
