About The Position
Ensure policies, procedures, and all activities are carried out to support BRS goals and objectives at the Hot Strip Mill on their respective shift.
Requirements
- Quality, detail, and safety oriented; mechanically inclined and self-motivated.
- Good insight into team dynamics with strong verbal communication skills and computer literate.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- college degree a plus.
- Previous steel mill experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements are followed.
- Master lockout of Tunnel Furnace.
- Safely change rolls, roofs, gearboxes, motors, dueblins, thermocouples and burners.
- Ensure good housekeeping practices are carried out in job areas and grounds.
- Perform daily walkthroughs of the entire Tunnel Furnace area and complete scheduled PM’s.
- Safely run overhead crane with remote and any other equipment as needed.
- Maintain adequate built-up roll inventory.
- Monitor temperatures throughout the furnace.
- Monitor water cooled roll temperatures and flow.
- Routinely dump gates and dig scale.
- Support and understanding of functions of Hot Strip Mill.
- Support other departments as needed to strengthen BRS profitability and continual improvement efforts.
