About The Position

Lucix Corporation, a subsidiary of HEICO’s Electronic Technologies Group, has steadily evolved to become a world leader in RF Active and Passive Units, Subsystems, and Assemblies for Commercial, Civil, and Defense Satellite Payloads. Lucix also provides RF hardware for Airborne and Ground Systems. All hardware is designed, qualified, manufactured, tested, and shipped from Lucix facilities in California, USA. The company is seeking an experienced Tune and Test Technician with an understanding of microwave test techniques and equipment, and a broad understanding of modules such as amplifiers, filters, synthesizers, and mixers in the 5 MHz to 50 GHz frequency range.

Requirements

  • AA degree in electronics or equivalent on the job experience of 2 to 5 years
  • Good knowledge and understanding of microwave theory and application
  • General knowledge of materials, processes, and assembly techniques used for HI-REL hardware, and have good mechanical skills
  • Full understanding of the challenges and techniques of tuning using hybrid microwave circuits, to include wedge bond, ball bond, and soldering
  • Familiar with various test equipment, such as: power meter, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, noise figure meter, vector, and digital voltage meter
  • Troubleshooting skills and ability to present problem solving strategies
  • Must be able to read schematics, assembly and wiring diagrams, process and parts specifications, and test procedures
  • Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel

Responsibilities

  • Test and align RF amplifiers and modules up to 40 GHz
  • Testing includes environmental tests such as vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, and EMI/EMC tests
  • Perform tests such as 1dB compression (P-1), C/IM3, noise figure, PSAT, and harmonics
  • Tune hybrid microwave circuits and modules using wedge bond and gap weld technology
  • Troubleshoot RF amplifier down to the component level
  • Calculate the approximate value of the noise, gain, and power of an amplifier by using the module data to determine if the amp will work before it is assembled
  • Perform final test
  • Propose ideas to improve efficiency and repeatability for tuning
  • Performs other duties as assigned
