About The Position

Foss Maritime is hiring a Tugboat Captain based in Seattle/Tacoma. The Captain is responsible for providing safe and reliable maritime services and working collaboratively with the vessel team. The role includes safe vessel navigation, oversight of drills, training, maintenance, and inspections, accurate reporting of operational and safety events, and ensuring crew compliance with maritime law and company standards.

Requirements

Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Document (MMD) or Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC).
Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Must possess and maintain a National Master 500/1600 OC or NC license, National Master of Towing, STCW, Radar Endorsement, MMC, and TWIC.
Five years of experience as a Master or Operating Mate on towing vessels.
Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Ensure safe navigation of the vessel at all times.
Oversee vessel drills, training, maintenance, and inspections to ensure compliance with company, safety, and maritime standards.
Ensure prompt and accurate reporting of equipment failures, illnesses, incidents, accidents, and damages.
Hold crew accountable for adherence to maritime law, company policies and procedures, and individual performance and productivity.
