About The Position

This position is Monday - Friday 3pm-11pm. The objective is to manage the complete operation of a tufting machine.

Requirements

  • Must be able to recognize conformance or nonconformance requirements.
  • Must be able to recognize letters and numbers to identify yarn lots.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must have adequate depth perception.
  • Must be able to read, write, and have some basic math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the tufting machine team.
  • Log downtime and other information into the TMS3.
  • Fill out and maintain Production Records for each machine ran throughout shift.
  • Doff completed buggies/rolls.
  • Print tickets from TMS3 for each buggy completed.
  • Check stitch count and pile height at startup of a machine and at least once per float.
  • Check for crossed ends at startup of machine as well as throughout the shift and fix any that are found immediately.
  • Operate tufting machines, i.e. cut pile, multiple thread-ups, and/or a pair machines.
  • Inspect carpet for defects every 3 minutes or 50 feet.
  • Properly mend defects as needed.
  • Make minor machine repairs as needed, i.e. change hooks, blades and needles.
  • Work with R&D on XR runs as needed.
  • Lead team with backing changes.
  • Cut weight checks, dye headers and straight sews as needed.
  • Check all inspection lights to ensure they are working.
  • Remove all cones at the machine or work area that appears to be unusable.
  • Responsible for the release of conforming products to the next operation.
  • Responsible for properly identifying non-conforming greige goods.
  • Responsible for properly identifying non-conforming yarn.
  • Responsible for properly identifying any cuts made in the carpet, recording them on the production record and mark them with pink ribbon as well as any seams including factory seams.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the carpet folds properly into the buggy.
  • Blow out the tufting machine daily and sweep up all debris.
  • Responsible for maintaining the tufter and work station in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Clean up any oil or grease that is found especially floors, machinery, step stools, and catwalks which could cause accidents or greige good contamination.
  • Ensure that any backing that is taken off a machine can be identified.
  • Responsible for executing the special instructions on the tufting shop orders.
  • Properly identify yarn lots used for mending and for spider yarns.
